After almost two years of application processing and legal ratification of the building permissions, today was the day that I got the final permission in my hand that allows me to start building my first treehouse. That feeling is AWESOME 😁

On Wednesday I'll start moving the rocks that will be the foundations for the treehouse oak poles. Hard work for sure.. Stay tuned for more.

For me it is much more important to be kind to Nature than to save a couple of minutes by taking the car. Since August I have only used a car at three occasions. Riding my bike out to the treehouse site takes me about 25 minutes.
I know there will be times when building my treehouse will recuire a car but today was a fine day to be kind to Nature and at the same time enjoy spring on the bike.

Sanding down. Gradually revealing the beauty of the elm.
This will be a fine treehouse kitchen bench indeed.

One of the best things with this treehouse project is that I get to share my dream with so many wonderful people. Today the skilled smith Veronica Åberg joined me in search for signs of spring and inspiration for exciting collaborations ahead 🍁🍁🍁

In order to build my treehouse with as little environmental impact as possible I always make an extra effort to do something by hand power instead of fossil power.

Today me and my dad managed to roll the 200kg lark log over a ditch and out on the field. It wasn't as easy as it looks but we had the luck on our side 🍀
The next step will be to drag and roll the log to the oak. For this I am going to need some help from my friends and some viking ingenuity.

This week finally the building permit for my first treehouse was approved. So that feels really good, since this process has taken me almost two years of various challenges since I first started to realize this treehouse dream.

This Friday afternoon got even better by having a coffee and creative talk under the oak with the eminent local designer @danielbystrom

Finally the day was rounded off by some old school handwork unbarking the staircase log.

Tomorrow the work continues... @danielbystromdesign

A snowy Spring

This Spring we have had unusually much snow. Late February and March the branches of the Oak was all covered in snow and I didn’t want to chance it by climbing the tree in those conditions.  Here are some pictures from this snowy Spring.

Let me introduce the green rock. As I was working away piling up branches, this little boulder called on my attention and asked if it could be one of the foundation stones for the treehouse.
”Hm, interesting” , I answered. ”In that case, let’s see if you can move over here first.”

Burnt wood walls – Shou Sugi Ban

Some weeks ago I experienced with the old Japanese method of burning wood to get an old weathered look for the exterior boards for the treehouse. This Shou Sugi Ban method both protects the wood and gives it more tree character. Perfect for a treehouse if you ask me.

This lark tree is going to be the foundation for the staircase. Together with som rope railing and some sturdy oak planks for steps this will be a very unique and adventurous access for the treehouse.
